Red Scare-
After the war, communists were looked at as bad to Americans. The Red Scare was a wave of widespread fear of suspected communists and radicals thought to be plotting revolution within the U.S. Events contributed to the scare even more when authorities discovered bombs mailed to important industrialists and government officials: anarchists/radicals were thought to be the reason behind the exploding bombs.
Palmer Raids-
Adding to the panic of America, Palmer Raids contributed to the panic. Palmer Raids were when police arrested thousands of people, some who were radicals and some who were simply immigrants from Eastern Europe who were charged for crime. Most were never charged for crime before, and were judged based on ethnicity and political beliefs.
Harding election-
President Wilson hoped that America would approve of the league of nations and his vision. He suggested they should elect James M. Cox, but Warren G. Harding rejected Wilson's ideas. Harding believed that America needed to "return to normalcy". He said that America needed to go back to the times before Wilson. He said he was tired of progressive reforms and foreign crusades and believed in simpler times.
Flue Epidemic-
After the war, America had suffered low emotions, because many women and African Americans were displaced from jobs because of the returning of servicemen. The flu epidemic spread worldwide and killed millions of people worldwide. It created a sense of doom among people globally
