Sacco and Vanzetti-
After the war, America faced many problems like inflation, and a flu epidemic, but Americans were scared of communist's. Sacco and Vanzetti were two men who were accused of robbing a bank where someone was murdered. Sacco and Vanzetti were not involved, but were blamed guilty because the were Italian and communist. They were stereotyped and were ultimately sentenced to death. They were convicted of the crime, because they were communist and Italian.
Were they guilty?-
Sacco and Vanzetti were only around when the robbery occurred and the person was killed. A witness described what they looked like, and described them as Italian. Sacco and Vanzetti were sent to court, where the ACLU(American Civil Liberties Union), which helps to defend people who are unjustly accused, helped to defend them in court. Despite the ACLU's effort, they were convicted with little to no evidence. Many scholars , intellectuals, and liberal politicians believed that they were convicted only because of their political beliefs and ethnicity, rather than evidence and proof. They were sentenced to death and were killed by an electric chair.
